A petition for a separate church was submitted in the Verapoly Bishop's house on March 20th 1960 . A plot was selected in July 1969 and a 40x13 feet shed was completed by end of 1971. The name of St. Jude was suggested by an orphan child , the first miracle to happen here. The first Mass was on November 29th 1971 , a Thursday at 4.30 p.m. It was offered by Fr. Augustin Maveli. Later he became the Msngr.The foundation stone for the new church was laid by Dr.Joseph Kelanthara, the late Archbishop of Verapoly Archdiocese on August 15th 1972.
